Baby Showers ~ Do You Love Them?
Baby Showers. Whether you love them or hate them, baby showers are so popular these days and almost unavoidable. Most women have a baby shower to celebrate the impending birth of their first child. It’s an opportunity to catch up with good friends before the new bub arrives. It’s a chance to enjoy a day of fun with your girlfriends before your world changes. It’s a time where good friends are allowed to shower their friend with gifts for the new baby. But can they go too far? And how far is too far? How do you know how much to spend on a baby shower?
I was a sceptic of baby showers for years. Not knowing what to expect. Unsure of how much to spend on gifts. I didn’t actually have one myself when pregnant with my Mr J; mainly because I HATE attention on myself! However the one thing I LOVE most is the chance to shower my friends with gifts for their new baby, whether before or after the birth and usually both!
Over the past years I have been to many baby showers. Some were simple affairs with a few friends, nibbles and a champers. Some were more lavish with extravagant decorations, catered food, drinks a plenty and a few games. And one recently quite ‘out there ‘ baby shower with cakes and fun galore, topless waitors and crazy games; more like a Hen’s Party really! But if there is one thing I have learnt, it’s that the most important thing about a baby shower is that the mum-to-be smiles, laughs, has a chance to have fun, relax and enjoy a day with good friends! For them, it’s not about the presents they receive; your presence is present enough. It’s not about how much money you spend; any gift you give them will be a help and bring a smile to their face.
